DOG PARK RULES AND ETIQUETTE

The following rules are part of Redondo Beach City Ordinance No. 2704 and may carry penalties of $50.00 or more. They are for your safety and the safety of the dogs.  Please abide by all posted rules.

  • The Park is open from dawn till dusk, closed on Wednesdays till noon for maintenance.  Sound travels in the early hours.  Please be considerate of sleeping neighbors

  • Dogs outside of the Dog Park and not within the fenced area must be on a leash at all times.  The Owner must be holding the leash.  This includes in the parking lot as well as traveling to and from your car.  Dogs are only allowed in designated parks or parkettes wnot allowed in any Redondo Beach City park, on or off leash.

  •  Owners are legally required to pick-up and dispose of their dog's feces both in and out of the Dog Park.

  • Children under 12 must be closely supervised at all times by an adult.  It is urged that young children not be brought to the Dog Park for their own health & safety.  They must be close enough to hold your hand at all times!

  • No strollers, carriages, bicycles, children's toys, food or treats allowed in the Dog Park.

  • No Radio controlled toys or vehicles, drones or kites.

  • Owners are solely liable for injuries or damage caused by their dogs.

  • Aggressive dogs must be removed from the Park immediately and without debate.

  • Female dogs in heat are not permitted in the Dog Park.

  • All dogs must be currently licensed  (with tags and collar on) and vaccinated.

  • No smoking, vaping, alcoholic beverages, or food allowed in the Dog Park.

  • No business may be conducted in the Dog Park.

  • Any commercial use of the Dog Park must be permitted by the City of Redondo Beach and be done with the written permission of the Board of Directors of the Friends of the Redondo Beach Dog Park.

Entering the Park

  • There are gate corrals located at the entry to the park.  This is to allow you to unleash your dog prior to entry into the park.

  • Do not open outside gate if the inside gate is open. Be patient.

  • Remove your dog's leash inside the double gated holding pen.

  • Enter the Park, close the gate and move your dog away from the entrance.

  • Normally you should not have a leashed dog in the Park.  Some handlers will keep a leash on a dog if the dog is new to the Park or a bit aggressive until the dog settles down.  If you must keep the leash on your dog, be aware that this may be problematic.  This may put your dog at a disadvantage and may actually cause an altercation.  Please be aware of dog body language.

  • You are required to keep your leash with you.  It may be needed to maintain control of your dog, or if necessary used as a muzzle or tourniquet.

  • If your dog must be muzzled, perhaps it shouldn't be in the Dog Park.

thinking about abandoning Your Dog at the Dog Park?

Animal Abandonment

 Consider these scenarios:

FIRST

Your pet could get incredibly lucky and some kind person could take YOUR PET and care for it.

OR

A concerned person will call a rescue group to pick up your pet where it may find a happier home than the one you provided.

OR

Someone calls the Redondo Beach Animal Control and they come and pick up your pet, put it in their vehicle and take it to the Carson Shelter where it may be adopted.

OR

You pet isn't adopted it may likely to be euthanized with numerous of its new best friends.

Second

You are seen leaving this poor animal at the Park and you are reported to the Authorities for your illegal and selfish behavior.  YOU will be prosecuted !

IF you no longer are able to care for your pet, you owe it to them to find a safe haven/place for them where hopefully someone will take it in and provide it with a good home.

There are many rescues or no kill shelters that are willing to help.

IT IS AGAINST THE LAW TO ABANDON AN ANIMAL

PLEASE THINK BEFORE YOU ABANDON !
